ACB is heading to Brisbane, Australia on Saturday, but the card suffered a big blow as the main event bout between Thiago Silva and Chris Camozzi was cancelled.
Camozzi broke the news on his social media on Thursday morning, saying that Silva “somehow didn’t make the trip to Brisbane.” According to the UFC veteran, ACB tried to find someone to face him on short notice, but couldn’t get a deal done.
”Sad to say I’ve been informed that Thiago Silva somehow didn’t make the trip to Brisbane for ACB 88 so our fight is no longer on,” Camozzi wrote. “[ACB] worked hard to find a replacement but we were unable to find one in time. I’m bummed to say the least.
”I don’t know why Thiago didn’t make the trip so you will have to ask him. It’s unbelievable and this was no short trip for me but I showed up ready to fight. I’ll look forward to my next fight with ACB in the future. I don’t know when yet but we will get something set up hopefully soon.”
Moments after Camozzi broke the news, Silva went on his social media and released a statement, explaining that he has dealt with visa issues and couldn’t fly to Australia.
”Unfortunately my fight in Australia got canceled because of visa issues,” Silva wrote. “Unfortunately the organization didn’t tell the truth to [Camozzi] so he’s saying he doesn’t know the reason on social media. Don’t worry HONEY BUM we will fight soon. Keep your hard work because u will need for next time I see you. You like to talk. I like to punch and kick and slap the big talkers In the face inside the cage. by Brandon Vera style. Be ready you will face me soon.”
ACB released a statement on social media saying that Silva couldn’t fly to Brisbane “due to some complications in obtaining the necessary documents to travel and compete in Australia.”
With the cancellation of Silva vs. Camozzi, a light-heavyweight clash between Luke Barnatt and Karol Celinski was promoted to the main event. Check the complete card below.
