Amanda Nunes made quick work of Ronda Rousey the main event of UFC 207, knocking out the formed women’s Bantamweight champion in 48 seconds to retain her 135-pound strap (see it again here).

While many may have been surprised at how easy “Lioness” made it look, Nunes herself wasn’t taken back by her performance, telling The Buzzer that she knew the fight was going to be a cake walk. Furthermore, she is more than confident that if she opted to give Ronda a rematch, she wouldn’t take it.

Her words:

“Yeah, I knew it was going to be like that (too easy). I trained hard for this fight and I know I would capitalize and walk away with the belt. The whole time, I know everything did UFC did with the promotion, Ronda Rousey was going to go down, and I was ready for it, you know? I just wanted to hug her, tell her to keep head up because she did a lot for this sport. Tell her to be proud and do something else, she don’t need to go through this thing again. She has money, she can stop and do something else. She should retire because I don’t think she can take hits anymore. She can’t take it. If I give her a rematch, I don’t think she would accept.”

After the loss, Rousey released a statement (see it) thanking everyone for their support in her comeback attempt, revealing that she would take even more time off in order to contemplate her future in the sport.

As for what’s next for Amanda — other than perhaps a raise — is a potential showdown against the winner of the upcoming fight between Julianne Pena and Valentina Schevchenko, which is slated to headline UFC on FOX 23 on Jan. 28, 2016 in Denver Colorado.
