community news, Anderson Silva is a UFC fighter and youre not, so shut up

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion Anderson Silva turns 41 this month and recognizes that he’s performing in the twilight of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career.

He also understands there is still room to improve, based on his rocky start against 185-pound veteran Michael Bisping in the UFC Fight Night 84 main event earlier this year on the UFC Fight Pass digital network.

But unless you’ve already laced up the gloves and stepped into the cage, the Brazilian would prefer you keep your trap shut.

From ESPN:

“I was very happy with how I performed. I showed everyone my technique and superiority. I really don’t watch out for critics of my fights because I’m the one who’s going in there and fighting. It’s easy for you to watch a fight and say a guy could have done this or that, but watching a fight and then going out there and stepping in is completely different. It takes someone to actually step in there and take a few shots to realize that.”

Some exclusions may apply (like me).

Silva will have a chance to get back into the win column next month in Brazil, where he meets fellow critic hater Uriah Hall on the UFC 198 pay-per-view (PPV) main card (more on that showdown here).

But whether you fight or don’t fight, I think it’s fair to say a loss on May 14 would be grounds for “the talk.”
