Andrei Arlovski Refuses to Ever Train with Teammate Alistair Overeem Again

It’s rare to see two fighters training out of the same gym fight each other in a major mixed martial arts promotion. While rare, it does happen.

Third-ranked heavyweight Alistair Overeem and fifth-ranked Andrei Arlovski train out the Jackson-Wink MMA camp in Albuquerque, N.M. They are set to meet in the UFC Fight Night 87 main event on Sunday in Rotterdam, and there’s no love lost between the two teammates.

“There’s no relationship,” said Arlovski about his upcoming opponent and teammate during this week’s episode of UFC Tonight.

According to “The Pitbull,” Overeem asked for the match-up. The former champion believes Overeem broke the fighter code when he requested to fight his teammate.

“He put Greg Jackson and Mike Winkeljohn in a spot. In my opinion, it’s not right,” said Arlovski.

While Overeem and Arlovski were never close friends, the distance and animosity has never been greater between the two than it is now.

Arlovski says it’s now personal between he and Overeem, and said that he will never spar or train with Overeem again.

“Absolutely not,” he said when asked about the possibility. “Absolutely not. No.”
