No “Showtime” and “Cowboy?” Aww man.
After losing his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight strap earlier this year in a lopsided contest to current titleholder Rafael dos Anjos at the UFC 185 pay-per-view (PPV) last March, Anthony Pettis was thought to be helping No. 1 contender Donald Cerrone “train” for an upcoming tilt with the Brazilian at UFC on FOX 17 on Dec. 19, 2015.
However, that’s simply not the case, according to what “Showtime” had to say during a recent UFC fan Q&A session (via MMAjunkie):
“No, that’s not true at all. He made a comment at a fight saying if I was fighting Khabib (Nurmagomedov) that he was going to – he hates that guy and would help me train for Khabib. I was like, ‘You got RDA next.’ He took what I said and put it out there like I was going to help him train. I’m possibly fighting this dude again, and he was talking big stuff when I fought him before. So I’m definitely not helping him out training.”
