Whilst one Shevchenko sister will fight for a world title at UFC 228 on Saturday night, another will be making her UFC debut in November, as Antonina Shevchenko is set to face Ashlee Evans-Smith at the TUF 28 Finale.
Ariel Helwani of ESPN first reported the news. Antonina, the elder of the two Shevchenko sisters, earned herself a UFC contract when she defeated Jaymee Nievara on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series in June.
Shevchenko (6-0) made her pro MMA debut back in 2002, but much like Valentina, she competed in kickboxing for most of her fighting career. Prior to her win on DWTNCS, “Pantera” picked up consecutive decision wins in late 2017 under Phoenix FC.
Evans-Smith (6-3) recently rebounded off consecutive losses to Ketlen Vierira and Sarah Moras by defeating Bec Rawlings at UFC 223 in April. The win against Rawlings was “Rebel Girl’s” debut at flyweight, previously competing in the UFC’s 135-pound weight class.
The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale, which will take place on November 30th, does not yet have a main event. The only other fight currently scheduled for the card is a bantamweight fight between Pedro Munhoz and Bryan Caraway.
