As Nate Diaz fades away, Dana White looking at new UFC fights for Conor McGregor

Going, going … gone?

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) script-flipper Nate Diaz, who upset Conor McGregor in the UFC 196 pay-per-view (PPV) main event last March in Las Vegas, Nevada, may watch his “Notorious” rematch dry up and turn to dust after failing to turn dollars into sense.

As a result, the promotion was forced to consider a new opponent for McGregor.

“We’re looking at another fight for Conor right now and we’ll see how this thing comes together,” UFC President Dana White told Colin Cowherd. “Conor is just so obsessed with Diaz at 170, it’s been crazy. People do want to see this fight. But, people want to see Conor fight Frankie Edgar, or Jose Aldo again, too. I’m sure they’d want to see him fight Rafael dos Anjos at 155 for that title, so there’s a lot of fights out there for Conor if we can’t get this Diaz fight done.”

I guess White wasn’t kidding when he said we may never see Diaz again.

The good news is, there are a couple of big names waiting in the wings, including former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and division No. 1 contender Frankie Edgar. They collide for the interim 145-pound title at UFC 200 on July 9 — just two days after Rafael dos Anjos puts his belt on the line against Eddie Alvarez.

Though it may be hard to sell a title fight outside McGregor’s division while coming off a submission loss.

Anyone disagree?
