Conor McGregor was in attendance at BAMMA 35 Saturday night at Dublin’s 3 Arena to see his SBG teammates Ion Pascu and Kiefer Crosbie score big wins in front of their hometown supporters.
Pascu’s superior wrestling saw him easily take the first two rounds of his main event clash with former champion Alex Lohore, who was unable to get out from underneath the Romanian to establish his striking game.
At the beginning of each round, “Da Killa Kid” tried his best to score some damaging shots and in the final seconds of the bout, despite being clearly exhausted, Lohore lunged into the shots in attempt to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
After seeing off one the former champion, Pascu looked to set a date for a championship showdown with the new title holder, Terry Brazier.
“I beat the former champion, now I want to beat the current champion,” said Pascu following the main event win.
Kiefer Crosbie kept his promise and claimed a first-round victory in the co-main event over Josh Plant.
Conor McGregor arrived at the event minutes before his SBG teammate took to the cage, creating an electric atmosphere in the venue as Crosbie and Plant engaged in a firefight.
Plant gave as good as he got in the opening exchanges, but as the round wore on, the Dubliner visibly rocked him with a heavy hooks. When Plant looked to take Crosbie down off the cage in the final minute, the hometown favorite unloaded with elbows to the side of the Brit’s head before the referee stopped the fight.
Following the fight, Crosbie claimed that either he or SBG teammate Pascu were next in the line for the BAMMA title, pending a victory for the Romanian over Lohore in the main event.
Fabian Edwards kept his 100 percent finishing record intact with a first-round stoppage of SBG middleweight Claudio Conti. On the minute mark, “The Assassin” drove his left leg into Conti’s body, immediately dropping him to the canvas, prompting the referee to stop the fight.
“BAMMA, where’s my title shot? Birmingham in June, let’s do it,” Edwards said following the quick win.
In his post-fight scrum, Edwards revealed that he suffered a broken hand in the bout and it is yet to be determined when he will be able to compete again.
