Since losing her second consecutive loss via devastating knockout thanks to a 48-second beatdown at the hands of Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 (see it), Ronda Rousey has received all types of career advice.

While some would like to see her retire (see who here and here), others simply want to see her make a coaching change. One mixed martial arts (MMA) legend, however, doesn’t want “Rowdy” to do either, as Bas Rutten simply wants her to smile a bit more and train with renowned striking coach Duane Ludwig for a year.

During a recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast, Rutten expressed his displeasure at seeing Rousey so stone-faced during her walkout, saying that all that does is tighten her up before the fight, and if she loosed up a bit more, it could do wonders for her performances.

“I just think with the way she comes in, with all that pressure and with an angry face, all that shuts her down. It’s too much pressure. Her whole Hollywood career rides on it, that’s not going to happen now, right? That’s what nerves can do to you. I’d like to see a Ronda with a smile on her face when she comes to the ring. Be relaxed and calm. Send her away, go to a Duane Ludwig for a year and have some smokers, because she can still legally do that, in other clubs just striking, you know? Just so you can get to that moment to see where you are at. In training, I think this is the problem everyone has, you always do good. A lot of guys do good, but these gym guys are really good in training but can’t do it under pressure. If she’s been boxing, working on her striking and hitting people left and right; and they got some good people coming in because I heard she works out with ex-boxing champions and current boxing champions and doing well, but that’s a nice and safe environment. Bringing in all the pressure with all the crap she had on her shoulders, I thought that takes it away.”

Hard to argue with a living legend.

Rousey hasn’t decided what her next move will be, as she is adamant she will take her time before moving forward. But, it’s unlikely she’ll drop her longtime trainer Edmond Tarverdyan.

According to Bas, though, that’s not necessary, she just needs to broaden her horizons a bit more with another camp temporarily. Anyone agree?
