Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently tied a ribbon around it UFC Fight Night 104 mixed martial arts (MMA) weigh in extravaganza for the “Bermudez vs. Korean Zombie” event on FOX Sports 1, locked and loaded for this Saturday night (Feb. 4, 2017) inside Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Strawweight veteran Bec Rawlings was the lone fighter to miss weight and as a result, will be fined 20-percent of her fight purse, payable to opponent and fellow Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 20 housemate Tecia Torres.

“Rowdy” explains her weight-cutting struggles on Facebook:

Earlier this year I was finally diagnosed with Secondary Hypothyroidism after struggling with my weight & energy for so long & to add to that my hormones, cortisol & everything that fires this beast of a body has taken a hit from these nasty weight cuts to 115. today I pushed my body to it’s absolute limits to try hit 116 & my body failed me.

I know people don’t exactly know what cutting weight entales & are quick to judge & talk shit but I know I did everything in my power to make weight today. I’ve been calling for 125 for this reason, women’s bodies are not designed to cut extreme amounts of weight & I am not the only UFC fighter with these issues, we need more divisions.

I’m still fighting, Tecia & her team ATT were very understanding & knew I couldn’t cut anymore & just want a good fight tomorrow night which we will give. Can’t wait to fight & put on a show for the Houston Fans & everyone tuning in to see me fight.

UFC recently added a featherweight class, as well as its inaugural 145-pound championship title fight (more on that here), but there are no plans are on the table for a 125-pound division.

At least for now.

Rawlings (7-5) and Torres (7-1) first went to war on TUF 20 with the “Tiny Tornado” walking away with the split-decision victory. Since then, the former has gone 2-2 while the latter is 3-1.
