Bellator MMA staged their inaugural international event, Bellator 152: Pitbull vs. Souza, at Italy’s The Pala Alpitour this weekend. In the main event of the evening, Patricky “Pitbull” Freire topped Kevin Souza with a unanimous decision and scores of 30-27, 30-27 and 30-27.
Souza took the fight on short notice after replacing Derek Campos because of injury one week ago. Freire spent much of the bout trying to figure out his opponent’s style, but in the third and final round, “Pitbull” was able to score some solid shots and a takedown to cement his position on the scorecards.
In the evening’s co-main event, former UFC middleweight Alessio Sakara fought in front of his fellow countrymen and finished off Brian Rogers in dramatic fashion. Sakara connected with some massive power punches in the second round and sent Rogers to the canvas. The stoppage came via TKO at 2:29 of the round.
A.J. McKee surely made his veteran MMA fighter dad, Antonio McKee, proud when he defeated Danilo Belluardo. The younger McKee earned the TKO at 2:44 of the very first round. After the bout, A.J. said, “If you ain’t got the belt, I ain’t got my eye on you.”
The second fight of the evening featured Anastasia Yankova picking up a quick win against Anjela Pink with an armbar submission at 1:35 of the opening round. The opening main card fight saw Daniele Scatizzi TKO Daniele Miceli in their opening round.
