Bellator 153: “Koreshkov vs. Henderson” took place at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn., on April 22, 2016, featuring the promotional debut of Benson Henderson, who challenged Andrey Koreshkov for the Welterweight title in the main event of the evening. Henderson came up short in a fight that went the distance, losing via unanimous decision; however, their title fight was a success for both men in the ratings.
The overall average for the show was 686,000 viewers, putting it fourth among five Bellator shows aired in 2016. But, the key number is the jump of more than 250,000 viewers once a competing Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Detroit Pistons NBA Playoffs game ended at 9:35 p.m. ET. During the five-round main event the opening viewership was 973,000 viewers, rising to a peak of 1.1 million viewers by 10:57 p.m. ET.
It’s fair to say that given the interest in the main event the overall average would have been even higher without 3.8 million viewers lured away to the NBA Playoffs.
