Is there a big crossover between NASCAR and MMA fans? Scott Coker and the people behind Bellator seem to think so, as the company has secured deals to host MMA bouts on select races.

“Bellator and NASCAR fans are some of the most passionate in sports and we couldn’t be happier to bring MMA and motorsports together,” Coker said in the announcement.

The bouts will serve as “a pre-race activation for the fans in attendance”, and are already scheduled for 4 races during this Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season.

The partnership seems to be with Monster Energy only, as NASCAR has specifically issued a statement that they do not have a deal with the MMA promotion. The ESPN report stated that “Bellator and Monster have worked together in the past and could have fights in the Monster Energy area of the fan midway.”

“NASCAR does not have a partnership with Bellator,” NASCAR told USA TODAY Sports.

The specific match ups have yet to be announced, but Bellator has stated that the following races will have MMA bouts featured on the event:

Monster Energy All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 20

Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway on August 19

Alabama 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on October 15

Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 19
