BE’s Baddest Greatest Lightweight: #3 Gilbert Melendez vs. #6 Jim Miller

Vote now in the Bloody Elbow Baddest Tournament to determine the Greatest MMA Lightweight of All Time. Today’s match-up: #3 Gilbert Melendez vs. #6 Jim Miller. Vote now!

I’m not going to lie BE fans – that is not how I thought this was going to play out. In our kick-off bout, current UFC Lightweight champion (and Featherweight, kind of) Conor McGregor fell and fell hard, losing a clear decision to original division champion Jens Pulver. The Conor contingent was quieter than expected here, giving Pulver a pass to the 2nd round and either a trilogy fight with BJ Penn or a battle with JZ Cavalcante. Hey, it could happen.

Today, two tough grinders with accomplished career, but also two men who have never worn UFC gold around their waist. #3 Gilbert Melendez takes on #6 Jim Miller in one of those “Oh man, why didn’t we ever get to see this fight in real life?” clashes. Winner moves on to the Sweet 16, and your votes decide who gets the call.
