‘Boring’ Daniel Cormier suggests he’s the UFC’s version of John Cena

You can’t see him.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight titleholder Daniel Cormier is adjusting to his new life as a “heel,” the pro wrestling term for “bad guy,” after the chorus of boos he received at the conclusion of UFC 210.

And just about everywhere else.

But don’t expect “DC” to run home and cry to mama, as the former Olympic wrestler is embracing his new and “refreshing” role as good guy turned bad, one which allows him to be his old “boring” self.

From the Edge and Christian podcast (via MMA Fighting):

“Lately I’ve been having to do a little more talking because the fans have, they’ve kind of turned on me — which is okay. I get it. It’s okay. But I kind of relate myself to Roman Reigns, John Cena, those types of guys. Guys that are supposed to be good guys but the fans just have something that they don’t like, something that doesn’t resonate with them. So I’ve kind of been having to talk a little bit more and it’s refreshing. Maybe I’m not cool enough because I go to work, I fight, when I’m not fighting I go back and I go to my kids’ soccer and baseball games. That’s what I do. I go to wrestling. I’m not out partying. I’m not out doing all kinds of crazy stuff. Maybe I’m just too boring but I’m fine with it. I like my life.”

Boring? Never!

Cena, despite his efforts to be a “face” (WWE talk for babyface), gets booed out of the arena by the (cough) “cool” kids. The rank-and-file, however, worship him and buy all of his crappy merchandise.

Probably where he and “DC” differ (blame the equally crappy Reebok).

Cormier (19-1) is expected to rematch Jon Jones this July once “Bones” — previously ruler of the 205-pound roost — returns from disciplinary suspension. Just don’t expect them to be the headlining act.

So let it be written…
