Saturday night’s marquee boxing match-up sees two division world champion Vasyl Lomachenko taking on challenger Jason Sosa live on HBO. Lomachenko is a world champion, a pound for pound top 10 (maybe even #1) and arguably the best technical boxer in the sport today, so it’s no surprise that he is the heavy favorite. Here are the odds as of Wednesday afternoon, courtesy of Bovada:

Vasyl Lomachenko -2500
Jason Sosa +1000

I’ve seen wider odds, but these are pretty prohibitive. Sure, you could get crazy and go for the wild Sosa upset, and it would pay well if it happened, but there’s absolutely no reason to suspect that outcome.

Also on the card is a clash between Oleksandr Usyk and Michael Hunter. Interestingly, the odds there come in exactly the same: -2500 for Usyk to +1000 for Hunter. I guess Hunter is a slightly more sensible underdog pick than Sosa, but still, I see no action on this card.

The closer odds Saturday come from across the pond, where two world champions are in action. Undefeated WBO Lightweight champion Terry Flanagan defends against Russia’s Petr Petrov. Flanagan is the decent favorite at -500 to Petrov at +350. But the most interesting odds come from Liam Smith vs. Liam Williams. Smith is best known to US fans for his loss last year to Canelo, but he’s a solid fighter with an otherwise unblemished record. Williams has far less experience, but has been making a good move up the ranks. Their fight is nearly even, with Williams just barely ahead at -140 to Smith at +110. Perhaps it is the result of the high profile Canelo loss, but I am surprised to see Smith as the underdog here – he’s a tempting bet.

In other boxing odds, Andre Ward vs. Sergey Kovalev II was just announced – here are the current odds there:

Andre Ward -155
Sergey Kovalev +125

And finally, Mayweather vs. McGregor odds hold steady at -850 for Floyd Mayweather, +525 for Conor McGregor.
