The upcoming UFC Fight Night 116 event — which is set to go down on Saturday Sept. 16, 2017 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — has suffered a major blow as Thiago Alves has been forced out of his scheduled co-main event Welterweight match up against Mike Perry.
UFC officials confirmed the news earlier today (Weds., Sept. 13. 2017); however, the precise reason behind the withdrawal was not released, according to MMA Junkie.
Just last week, Alves declared that he wouldn’t be leaving for Pittsburgh early on the heels of Hurricane Irma slamming down on Florida, where “The Pitbull” currently trains. Whether or not the catastrophic events over the weekend had anything to do with his withdrawal remains unclear at this time.
According to the report, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is currently seeking an opponent to step up to the plate to face “Platinum” on just three days notice. So stick with MMAmania.com as this developing story unfolds.
