It’s been an eventful year for Brendan Loughnane, one he’ll cap off with his first fight for the Professional Fighters League.

On Tuesday, the league confirmed a report from ESPN that Loughnane will make his debut at PFL 7 in a featherweight bout against Matt Wagy (13-6). The event takes place on Oct. 11 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

This will be a match in the PFL’s “New Fighter Showcase” series, one-offs designed to showcase certain fighters, and not part of the current PFL playoffs, which are set to take place over the course of three shows in October.

The 29-year-old Englishman shared a message on social media shortly after his debut was announced:

Loughnane (17-3) made headlines earlier this year as a contestant on Dana White’s Contender Series. One of the more experienced fighters heading into the show, Loughnane won a unanimous decision over Bill Algeo, but did not receive a UFC contract after being criticized by White for ending his performance with a takedown attempt rather than going all out for a finish.

It was later announced that Loughnane had signed with the PFL in July. He is expected to compete in the league’s 2020 featherweight regular season.
