Brian Kelleher almost made it to the Octagon, but he won’t be fighting at Madison Square Garden tonight.
After failing to make weight for his UFC 230 preliminary fight against Montel Jackson, the 32-year-old is out of the bantamweight bout due to unrelated sickness. According to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, ‘Boom’ is allegedly suffering from a case of food poisoning that has rendered him unable to fight.
Saturday night’s Brian Kelleher vs. Montel Jackson UFC 230 fight has been canceled, multiple sources told ESPN. Kelleher is sick, sources say. He missed weight yesterday by a pound, but this is unrelated. It is believed he is suffering from food poisoning.

The fight would’ve been Brian Kelleher’s (19-9) first since a KO loss to John Lineker back in May. The defeat snapped a two-fight winning streak over Damian Stasiak and former champion Renan Barao.
Montel Jackson (6-1), who was a contestant on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, was going to try for his first Octagon win after dropping a unanimous decision to Ricky Simon in his UFC debut in August.
UFC 230 will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between champion, Daniel Cormier, and contender Derrick Lewis. The night’s co-main event will also feature former middleweight champion Chris Weidman against jiu-jitsu ace Ronaldo Souza.
