Et tu, Brian?
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans is convinced reigning 205-pound titleholder Daniel Cormier is going to upset Jon Jones when they collide for the division strap at UFC 197 next month in Las Vegas, Nevada.
UFC analyst Brian Stann, who shares a broadcast booth with “DC,” won’t hear of it.
“I haven’t seen anything technically that leads me to believe [Cormier is] gonna be able to take Jon down consistently,” Stann told Heavy Hands. “Especially now that Jon has discovered weight lifting and Jon’s a unique athlete. Never lifted weights but you try to get your hands on him and his instincts for leverage and wrestling are phenomenal. I’ve watched him train with heavyweights and make them look really, really bad.”
Jones defeated Cormier at UFC 182 just over a year ago.
Since then, “Bones” has been sidelined with a disciplinary suspension, stemming from his legal troubles in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In his absence, “DC” captured the crown from Anthony Johnson, then defended it against Alexander Gustafsson.
Will any of that make a difference on fight night?
