The UFC is thin in their two heaviest divisions, so they wasted no time in locking up a couple of potential Australian stars from 205 and heavyweight. Colorful brawler Tai Tuivasa and light heavyweight Tyson Pedro have each been re-signed to new six-fight contracts according to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, Tuivasa is looking to headline his first event as well:
Both Tai Tuivasa & Tyson Pedro have signed new 6-fight contracts with UFC, per sources. Tuivasa is hoping to finalize his spot in the main event of the 11/24 Beijing card. JDS (not likely) or Tybura (maybe) have been discussed as opponents. Nothing done. Pedro’s return is TBD.

Tuivasa (8-0, 3-0 UFC) has been successful in every opportunity in the Octagon so far, most recently winning a unanimous decision over former champion Andrei Arlovski at UFC 225 in June. As mentioned in Ariel’s tweet, the promotion is looking to have him headline their November event against either Junior dos Santos or Marcin Tybura.
Pedro (7-2, 3-2 UFC) is coming off a submission loss to Ovince Saint Preux. He is currently ranked at 14 in the light heavyweight divisional rankings. He is currently waiting for his next booking.
Interestingly, both men are from Western Sydney and are actually brother in-laws. So this works out well for the whole family.
