Can Undefeated Chazz Walton Keep First-Round Finish Streak Alive at Legacy FC 53?

Though he had some trepidation making the transition from the amateur ranks to the pros, lightweight prospect Chazz Walton has stepped up to meet the challenge.

In his first year as a pro in 2015, Walton picked up three finishes in his three fights, including his most recent win over Josh Millwood in his Legacy FC debut last October.

“I was a little concerned that I had turned pro a little too soon because I had maybe been fighting for three years and only had six amateur fights,” Walton told MMAWeekly.com. “I was definitely a little anxious about turning pro, but I definitely ended up in a place that I couldn’t have wished for in my wildest dreams.

“Within my first three fights, I’ve now had one televised fight and am about to have my second one. I have all first-round finishes. I’ve been blessed so far in my amateur career.”

Walton is especially pleased with how the win over Millwood went for his debut on the national stage.

“It felt amazing,” Walton said. “I really don’t even know how to explain it. It’s an amazing feeling to not only fight, but fight for a league as good as Legacy, which is well-known for being a gateway to the UFC.

“Josh was tough. He was super-durable and was specifically good on the ground, so pulling off a first round submission finish was awesome.”

Walton (3-0) returns to Legacy on Friday in Atlanta, Ga., to take on veteran Wesley Golden (5-5) in a main card 155-pound bout.

“I know he’s been around a little bit longer than me and has a little bit more experience, but I feel I have an advantage everywhere,” said Walton of Golden. ….View full article
