Canelo Alvarez is still a considerable favorite over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, but the odds are not as wide as they once were.
At midweek, Canelo Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) was a -650 favorite over +425 underdog Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs). Alvarez was actually as high as -900 when the fight was announced at the beginning of the year, but now late money has come in on Chavez Jr. on fight night.
Late money has come in heavy for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Canelo Alvarez is now a 4-1 favorite at MGM Grand. He had been an 8-1 favorite.

Taking a quick look at Pro Boxing Odds, multiple betting lines have seen Chavez Jr. go as low as +315, with Canelo available at -403. British syndicates William Hill and Ladbrokes have stayed steady with Chavez Jr. at +500 and Canelo at either -714 or -833. Everyone else has fairly similar lines across the board.
As of this writing, there’s still one fight to be completed before the main event begins, so there’s more time for those odds to tighten even more.
