Thoughts: Honestly, it’s Alvarez all day. The only question is whether Chavez Jr. takes 36 minutes of beating or quits partway through. It’s that mental inconsistency that makes prop bets a sucker’s game, honestly. If I knew Chavez was going into this fight with the confidence that let him get embarrassed by Sergio Martinez for 11 rounds and nearly knock him out immediately afterward, I’d jump all over that 5/4 line for Alvarez by decision. Chavez has got a chin on him and I don’t see anything other than a peach of a body shot actually forcing him to stay down.

I just can’t forget the way he punked out against Andrzej Fonfara.

My recommendation? Straight bet on Alvarez. Maybe parlay him with David Lemieux for a little extra dosh.
