On Saturday night, Canelo Alvarez makes his debut on DAZN when he takes on Rocky Fielding. Here are the odds on the fight, courtesy of OddsShark:
Canelo Alvarez -1600
Rocky Fielding +800
If anything, those odds are closer than I would anticipate. Perhaps it’s the lingering feeling that Canelo should be 0-2 against Gennady Golovkin that is coloring people’s perceptions of him. But the reality is, Canelo is indeed one of the sport’s best right now, and a fighter like Fielding is just not in his league. So yes, these are wide odds and Fielding is a big underdog – but I would argue they are not wide enough. No reason to place a bet here. And for what it’s worth, these have held pretty steady since the line first opened at -1800 to +900.
Canelo vs. Fielding caps off a four fight card on DAZN – here are some odds on the rest of the night:
Tevin Farmer -2250
Francisco Fonseca +950
Katie Taylor -3000
Eva Wahlstrom +1100
Sadam Ali -1800
Mauricio Herrera +850
So really, add it all up and you have a night of pretty massive favorites. Probably the best underdog spoiler in here is Herrera, but given his dodgy history with judging, I would have a tough time confidently picking him. Still, if you are just dying to make an underdog bet, Herrera is your man. The fight with the closest odds was David Lemieux vs. Tureano Johnson, which had Lemieux up by just -300. But weight-cutting issues for Lemieux has led to that fight being scrapped, which is a shame as a -300 line on Lemieux was a very tempting one.
And finally, left here without comment, because who doesn’t enjoy a ridiculous fight?
Floyd Mayweather -2000
Khabib Nurmagomedov +900
