It’s no secret that former IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (40-4, 34 KOs) is one of the heaviest punchers in the sport. The Canadian uncorked a vicious left hand on Ireland’s Spike O’Sullivan (28-3, 20 KOs) on the undercard of the Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin 2 pay-per-view, and O’Sullivan was totally out of it. Referee Russell Mora waived off the count even with O’Sullivan on a knee, and Spike didn’t protest, because he clearly had no idea where he was.

Lemieux has won two straight and is the WBA mandatory challenger to the Golovkin vs. Canelo winner. He’s lost to GGG before, so he might really be better served by Alvarez winning. As for O’Sullivan, it’s the first KO loss of his career, and his hopes of getting a big payday in a world title fight have taken a huge hit. That was a brutal punch he absorbed.
