Before Saturday night’s big fight, watch Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin weigh in live right here at 3:30 PM ET/12:30 PM PT.
We are just a few weeks removed from Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor, but we’re already looking at another major boxing mega-fight. This time, that fight is in the Middleweight division, where Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin finally square off in a long anticipated super fight. The winner will hold a significant pile of belts and will be the clear king of the division.
Before Canelo and GGG meet Saturday night, the two will face off at the official weigh-ins. Weigh-ins take place today, Friday, September 15 at 3:30 p.m. ET / 12:30 p.m. PT. The weigh-ins will be available in a live stream here at Bloody Elbow (above) or on HBO’s YouTube page (here).
Weight is one of the big storylines of this fight. Since it’s at Middleweight, both men will have to hit the limit of 160 pounds. But interestingly, despite being the lineal Middleweight champion, Canelo Alvarez will be hitting that weight for the first time in his entire career here. Every other “Middleweight” fight he has taken so far, including when he won the lineal title from Miguel Cotto, had been at an agreed upon weight under 160. His last fight was against Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. and was competed at a catchweight of 164.5 pounds. Golovkin has fought exclusively at 160 for his entire pro career.
Watch the weigh-ins live here this Friday, then join us Saturday night for Canelo vs. GGG live fight night coverage.
