Four-time super middleweight champion Carl Froch will join Dan Hardy on Sky Sports commentary team for the upcoming boxing bout between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.
Sky Sports made the announcement on a conference call on Thursday.
Froch has had mixed opinions about the polarizing boxing bout thus far.
Last week, he suggested that McGregor would have a hard time laying a glove on the undefeated Mayweather in an interview for Sky Sports. This week, speaking to the BBC, he underlined that the Irishman had the ability to shock the world when he meets the ‘Money’ man on Aug. 26.
Speaking on today’s conference call, the former champion claimed that bout could be “a disaster”.
“McGregor has all of the Irish behind him, he’s just massive,” said Froch.
“Then you’ve got Mayweather who has been out of the ring for two years. It’s the element of the unknown, what’s he going to be like? It’s two massive stars from different sports coming together in what could potentially be a disaster.
“It could be a mismatch for McGregor, it could be a disaster for Mayweather if the two years out of the ring have really softened him. We just don’t know how he’s going to react or respond when he starts letting shots go.
“I’m quite confident that Mayweather has still got it and got enough to beat McGregor. It’s a whole new discipline for him. Let’s be honest, he’s not a boxer.
“I think he’s really going to struggle. Regardless of what you think, the fight is massive.”
