Check it out: UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley drops single with Wiz Khalifa

Athletes venturing off to develop their artistic side is not a new phenomenon, but it feels like a bit of a rare one in MMA. Bernie Williams, Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson, and Tony Parker have all had forays into music, among many other athletes. That’s not to say that it doesn’t happen in cage fighting, just that it’s often a niche thing, with varied levels of success.

Well, here comes a new challenger looking to make the jump from combat sports star to recording artist. UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley celebrated his recent win over dangerous challenger Darren Till by releasing his new single with rap superstar Wiz Khalifa.

The lyrics mostly describe how he fights people; a blow-by-blow for anyone foolish enough to step to him. And a highlight of just how bad things can get if you underestimate the welterweight king. He says he’ll beat you up in real life and TV. On GP, at that.

According to TMZ, there’s a remix on the way with Snoop Dogg on the track.

Here’s Woodley talking to TMZ about the whole thing:

He even released the artwork via Instagram…

…which prompted a response from former interim champion and perpetual thorn in Woodley’s side, Colby Covington.

What, you didn’t expect that to go unanswered, did you? Even UFC strawweights Angela Hill and Jessica Penne couldn’t resist but post a reaction.

Woodley’s future fighting plans appear to be on hold for now, as he awaits surgery and will be on the shelf for at least two months. Let’s hope that an eventual video has the kind of production value and quality of other things we’ve seen in the past.
