Chris Weidman boldly predicts UFC 194 will pull 1.4 million PPV buys

UFC 194, which is set to go down on Dec. 12, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada, promises to be one of the most stacked pay-per-view (PPV) events of the year.

Not only will Chris Weidman defend his belt against Luke Rockhold in a highly-anticipated middleweight title fight, but the long-awaited featherweight championship fight between division kingpin, Jose Aldo, and interim champion, Conor McGregor, will headline the card.

That’s good enough for Weidman to predict the event will bring in 1.4 million PPV buys. Of course, that’s assuming the injury bug does not show its ugly head

“I just want the card to stay together. If it stays together, I’m going to say (it does) 1.4 (million pay-per-view buys),” Weidman said on The MMA Hour (via MMA Fighting):

Prior to getting scratched, Aldo vs. McGregor received the royal treatment — as far as promotion goes — ahead of UFC 189.

If that momentum carries over, Weidman says it should help bring in the fans.

“First of all, the Jose Aldo vs. Conor fight has been getting promoted for almost a year now, right? They’ve put more money into that than any other show, and it didn’t happen yet,” said Weidman.
