Chris Weidman facing neck surgery, doesn’t think Michael Bisping has a chance against Luke Rockhold at UFC 199

Chris Weidman was all set to rematch current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold, which was primed to go down this weekend (Sat., June 4, 2016) in Los Angeles, California.

But then an unfortunate neck injury forced “All American” to the sidelines, and subsequently catapulted Michael Bisping to his first-ever world title fight.

Now, Weidman could be facing surgery on his neck, as he revealed on The MMA Hour that while he is waiting to hear back on several other options, the more likely scenario is that he will be going under the knife in the weeks to come.

“I’m most likely getting surgery this next week coming up, or the week after. I’m still hearing back from a few doctors, listening to different opinions and options. I went to Pittsburgh, I’ve had face time videos chats with different doctors around the country, went to the city multiple times. So I’ve been getting as many options as possible, because when you are dealing with a neck injury, someone is going to be digging into my neck with a knife; I am going to have to be comfortable with it and understand everything that goes with it. That’s kind of what I have been up to. As far as living everyday life, it’s gotten better, the pain has calm down after I got a second epidural injection. Now I can go through everyday life without taking painkillers. For two weeks I was taking painkillers nonstop, and at night I couldn’t sleep. I was depressed and you don’t want to be one of those guys that is always taking painkillers. I literally couldn’t go through a normal day without them.”
