Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Conor McGregor, when he’s not brokering mega fights with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr., is posing for the latest cover of GQ Style.

“Hard-Hitting Spring Fashion,” whatever that means.

But no spot on the front of GQ would be complete without a corresponding interview, and one of the topics broached was the political climate in New York City, home to none other than UFC President Dana White’s homie, Donald Trump.

McGregor’s take during the wealthy UFC 205 fight week:

“I feel like you’re in charge of your own situation. When you start blaming others for your situation, like I see all these people screaming at these politicians, and I was like, ‘It’s the wrong mind-set!’ I saw this union thing they tried to do––they reminded me of the people that march about the politicians. It’s you gotta do it. You’re in control of yourself…. People like to blame others. I think a person should just look at their own situation, look around them, find out what they wish to do, and seek and go and do that. And that’s it… Like all these fighters: ‘This union is gonna save us!’ What do you mean, it’s gonna save you, exactly? …I just think it’s a crazy thing to spend energy on… standing on a fucking picket…I don’t know.”

So much for not giving a bollocks.

The “union thing” McGregor was referring to is the Mixed Martial Arts Athletes Association (MMAAA), spearheaded by ex-Bellator boss Bjorn Rebney and chaired by on-again, off-again UFC welterweight Georges St-Pierre.

It’s all fake to McGregor.

Unless his “Money” fight materializes, the trash-talking Irishman is expected to be out of action until late summer/early fall, as he welcomes his first child with longtime girlfriend Dee Devlin.

Until then, he’ll just stand around looking pretty.
