While most of us take the majority of the Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather barbs as a couple of world-class self promoters being opportunistic, there’s a shred of meat on the bone with the Irishman’s most recent retort.
Mayweather recently got a little chafed when a TMZ reporter dared compare him to McGregor.
“I’m a legend. A living legend. Never compare Conor McGregor to me. It’s a total disrespect,” Mayweather said. “I’m a elephant. An elephant don’t beef with ants. Elephant is so large he don’t even see ants.”
Although McGregor’s initial retort to those comments was a bit sophomoric, he was later spied at a New York hot spot, where he grabbed the house mic and threw a specific challenge out to Mayweather, including the price of admission.
“I want $100 million cash to fight (Mayweather) under boxing rules cause he’s afraid of a real fight,” declared the UFC featherweight and lightweight champion.

Fresh off of his win over Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, McGregor has numerous chips on the table. In all likelihood, he’ll be back in the Octagon some time after his girlfriend delivers their first child in early 2017, but with his declaration that he now wants an ownership stake in the UFC, things could get complicated.
Considering McGregor’s latest contract demand, does it change your opinion on whether or not a fight with Mayweather could ever happen?
