Conor McGregor racist? ‘Notorious’ father has a little message for UFC race-baiters

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Conor McGregor admits his racial jokes directed toward Floyd Mayweather Jr., which took place as part of their world tour press conference last week, didn’t really hit right.

But “Notorious” denies allegations of racism.

His father, Tony McGregor, took it one step further and accused the mixed martial arts (MMA) community and the worthless hacks who report on it (like me) of race baiting, insisting the “Money” fight is about the color of gloves, not the color of skin.

“Conor is absolutely, unequivocally not racist,” McGregor Sr. told The MMA Hour. “This fight is not about race, this fight is about skill and technique. The color of skin is immaterial. It’s the victory that Conor is looking for. It’s imperative, that’s the only thing I’d say in that.”

This guy would probably disagree.

McGregor will put his lightweight strap on hold to box Mayweather next month inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, in what could be one of the richest fights in the history of combat sports.
