Conor McGrgeor is living the life. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight champion has taken over the world of mixed martial arts (MMA) by putting leather to chin. In turn, “Notorious” has skyrocketed into the mainstream en route to becoming the biggest draw in the sport today.
His showdown with Nate Diaz at UFC 202 was just the latest pay-per-view (PPV) overhaul in which a McGregor main event drew more than 1,000,000 buys. I guess that’s what you’d expect when the Irishman is making a whopping $3 million just to show up on fight night.
As one of the most lucrative fighters in MMA history, McGregor rarely shies away from cutting a big check. The 28-year-old reportedly spent $300,000 on his training camp leading into his rematch with Diaz earlier this August. McGregor also laid down nearly $500,000 for some luxury cars ahead of his UFC 194 showdown with Jose Aldo last year. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the most outspoken figure in UFC opens his wallet wide when the suits come out.
According to a recent report by TMZ Sports, long-time UFC wardrobe coordinator David Heil — CEO of David August clothing — says that McGregor spends an astronomical amount of money to look good. Heil states that McGrgeor buys eight to 10 custom outfits before every media tour, with the outfits ranging anywhere from $4,000 to $10,000. Two or three suits are also put aside in case something happens to the ones McGregor already purchased.
“Every outfit I make for him takes 60 hours,” said Heil “He likes to wear his suits high and tight and really tailored, and his size changes all the time depending on his fights. So we’re always measuring him to make sure it fits ….View full article
