Now that the fight is official, the betting odds for the Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather bout are getting slightly less lopsided.
While the boxing match between UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and undefeated legend Floyd Mayweather just became a reality yesterday, the betting line for the prospective bout has been up for ages. Way back in December when the line opened, Mayweather was a gigantic -3000 favorite. Since then, McGregor has steadily creeped a bit closer. And now that the bout is official, he’s made up a little more ground.
Here’s a look at the best lines you can get on each man at the moment, via ProBoxingOdds:
Let’s make something clear right now – that’s the best line you’re going to get from the variety of betting sites covered. Before, there was one site – Bovada/Bodog – that offered a line on McGregor that was way off of what other books had it at. You could actually get McGregor at +475 on May 19th. They have him at +500 now, which means it’s moving in the other direction slightly.
But what’s important is the rest of the sites, most of which are offering McGregor at a much lower price than they were before. Sure there are some outliers still – that’s reflected in the graphic above. But the overall trend shows that the line is getting closer. So if you actually think McGregor can win, now is the time to bet on him. Actually, six months ago was. But take what you can get now.
