The UFC has found a replacement for Carlos Condit to fight at UFC on FOX 29.
It did not take too long for the UFC to find a replacement for Matt Brown. After a torn ACL forced ‘The Immortal’ to pull out of his upcoming, against Carlos Condit, Combate reported Alex Oliveira verbally agreed to take on the former interim welterweight champion in Glendale, Arizona. The fight was later on confirmed by Ariel Helwani on Twitter.
Used to taking fights on short notice, Alex Oliveira (18-4-1-2NC) will try to recover from a TKO loss suffered in December, when he faced Yancy Medeiros. Before that, the Brazilian ‘Cowboy’ had won four of his last five fights, defeating James Moontasri, Will Brooks, Tim Means and Ryan LaFlare. The other result was ruled a no contest due to striking a downed opponent during his first encounter with Tim Means.
Carlos Condit (30-11) has only won one of his last five fights, dropping losses to the likes of Tyron Woodley, Demian Maia, Robbie Lawler and, most recently, Neil Magny, in December 2017. His sole win during that span came in May 2015, when he scored a TKO victory over Thiago Alves.
UFC on FOX 29 takes place on Saturday, April 14th. The card will be headlined by a lightweight bout between contenders Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje.
