Despite some recent reports about a new main event, Cub Swanson has confirmed that he’s still the headliner for the UFC’s next trip to Nashville.

Things can get confusing sometimes with so many UFC cards getting booked, and this week was another example of that. The top of the card for the UFC’s return to Nashville on April 22nd was thrown into question after Brazilian outlet Combate reported that a bout between Demian Maia and Jorge Masvidal had been added to the event, and it would serve as the headliner. This seemed a bit strange, since the UFC had already announced a main event – Cub Swanson vs. Artem Lobov.

While a Maia/Masvidal bout would be very important and deserves five rounds, it would have made things weird for Swanson, who signed a contract to fight for five rounds as well. He took to Twitter today to address the confusion:

Just under an hour after that tweet though, he apparently got his answer from the UFC. Yes, he is indeed still headlining the event:

There were some, including myself, that wondered why Swanson vs. Lobov was a headliner in the first place. Certainly not because Cub is involved – he’s a top-five featherweight and put on one of the best fights I’ve ever seen against Doo Ho Choi the last time out – but the fact that he’s fighting an unranked opponent with a 2-2 UFC record seemed strange.

Either way, we now know who will go on last in the Bridgestone Arena. Where this leaves Maia/Masvidal is anyone’s guess at this point though.
