community news, Cub Swanson: I’m fighting Brian Ortega in UFC Fresno main event

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently announced its UFC Fight Night 123 mixed martial arts (MMA) event for the Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif., on Sat., Dec. 9, 2017, live on FOX Sports 1 with “Prelims” on UFC Fight Pass.

Leading the charge will be longtime featherweight slugger Cub Swanson, who revealed his five-round headliner against Brian Ortega earlier today on social media, though the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

Swanson (25-7) is currently enjoying a seven-fight win streak, which includes last April’s drubbing of Artem Lobov at UFC Nashville. Ranked No. 4 at 145 pounds, the former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) standout is inching his way closer to a Max Holloway rematch.

But it won’t be easy.

He’ll first have to dispose of No. 4-ranked Ortega (12-0, 1 NC), who quietly amassed four consecutive wins since his “no contest” against Mike de la Torre in his Octagon debut. “T-City” has finished all four of his UFC wins.

Early predictions?

UFC Fight Night 123 will also feature the women’s bantamweight rematch between Liz Carmouche and Alexis Davis, while Scott Holtzman and Darrell Horcher hook ‘em up for lightweight bragging rights.

Stay tuned for more UFC Fresno fight card announcements in the coming days.
