Coming off a loss to close out 2014 against Hiromasa Ogikubo at VTJ 6, flyweight veteran Czar Sklavos was looking to come back strong last year and managed to pick up two straight wins.
And while Sklavos is pleased with his wins over Benny Vinson and Nick Burgos, he isn’t 100-percent pleased with how he performed, especially against the latter.
“I thought I could have done a little better and maybe got a finish in that (Burgos) fight, maybe if I had trusted my jiu-jitsu a little more and transitioned better,” Sklavos told MMAWeekly.com. “I was a little tense in that fight and I held onto position a bit longer than I should have. I won the fight easily, but I think I could have finished the guy.”
Though he believes he could have done better, still, getting those wins was a big boost for Sklavos as he looks to continue his comeback in 2016.
“It definitely boosted my confidence,” he said. “It was nice to fight close to my hometown for both fights. I’ve tried to get some more fights in, but I had broken my hand about six months ago training when I was scheduled to fight Matt Brown (at RFA 36). So I’ve recovered from that and I’m ready to move forward and go at it again.”

For his next bout, Sklavos (12-4) takes on the fighter who replaced him against Brown in Chico Camus (15-7) in a 125-pound main event bout at RFA 40 on July 15 in Lake Prior, Minnesota.
