The UFC welterweight champion isn’t fond of the reaction some had to his title defense at UFC 209.

Following his decision win over Stephen Thompson at UFC 209, welterweight champion Tyron Woodley woke up to see something surprising on his Twitter feed from former welterweight contender Dan Hardy:

This appears to have confused Woodley, as he did not seem to expect this at all.

And even led to responding to some fans attempting to goad him.

Woodley has often had disputes with fans in the past on social media, but this sort of criticism of his fighting has rarely come from another fighter – rarely still from a fighter as well-known and respected for his analysis as Dan Hardy. For his part, Hardy hasn’t fought since a decision win in September of 2012 over Amir Sadollah. He’s been out of competition largely due to a cardiac condition, but continues to do analyst work for the UFC.

It’s understandable frustration, though. Many fans and media were not very happy with the lack of action in the fight and didn’t take kindly to the result, either. Some even braced for the possibility of another draw, much like the first one but without the drive and tenacity that made the first fight so memorable.

As of this writing, they haven’t turned this into a proper conversation. Even so, it’s very possible that Hardy will respond in turn and make his case as to why he approached this as harshly as he did.
