Dan Hardy responds to ‘future lightweight champion’ Mickey Gall’s callout

He’s not exactly Conor McGregor, but what Mickey Gall wants, Mickey Gall gets.

After calling for a chance to welcome CM Punk to the Octagon, Gall received it and proceeded to choke out the former WWE-superster-turned mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter in a matter of seconds at UFC 203 earlier this year.

Immediately after, Mickey called for a fight against fellow up-and-comer, Sage Northcutt, which he also received. And after choking out “Super” in the co-main event of last night’s (Sat. Dec. 17, 2016) UFC on FOX 22 event in Sacramento, California (see it again here), the 24-year old called out his next potential foe, as he asked for a fight against longtime veteran, Dan Hardy, while announcing his drop to lightweight.

“I think I’m going to drop down to 155,” said Mickey during his post-fight victory speech. “I’m a little young for 170, and I think I can go down there and be champion in a couple of years.”

“I’d like to welcome back Dan Hardy. He’s coming back and says he want’s a marquee fight. I think I’m a marquee fight right now. I’d be honored to fight. He’s a legend and I’d love to fight Dan Hardy,” said Mickey.

While you have to admire Mickey’s willingness to call for the fight, it seems “The Outlaw” isn’t too thrilled about it.

Was he old enough to watch the @UFC when I was still fighting?

Hardy hasn’t competed in nearly four years after he was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome. But, just a few months ago, “The Outlaw” teased an MMA comeback and declared that if and when he does return, he’ll be doing it at 155 pounds.

Question is, will UFC matchmakers bend to Gall’s requests and grant him his third wish? Time will tell.
