UFC president Dana White is doing everything in his power to promote Conor McGregor’s upcoming boxing match with Floyd Mayweather on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas. Considering McGregor will be making his professional boxing debut against one of the best of all time, White has had to defend “Notorious” whenever the Irishman’s potential to win the superfight has been called into question. Most recently, White took to Twitter in effort to shed light on McGregor’s growing chances of upsetting Mayweather later this summer, siding with oddsmakers over trash talkers.
People talking shit that @TheNotoriousMMA doesn’t have a chance vs Mayweather. Oddsmakers disagree!!! Odds for Conor vs other great boxers pic.twitter.com/tOmNsr4qNn

White is obviously going to play damage control and keep McGregor’s notoriety as high as possible leading up to the superfight, but these numbers do speak for themselves. Despite never competing inside of the boxing ring, McGregor currently has better odds of defeating “Money” than some of Mayweather’s most recognizable opponents from the past. Chalk it up to McGregor’s legendary knockout power and uncanny ability to do the impossible.
Whether or not McGregor will be able to stand and trade with Mayweather on Aug. 26, UFC stands to make a ton of money by renting out its most prized possession. White would be shooting himself in his own foot if he didn’t build up McGregor’s chances of stunning Mayweather every step of the way.
I’m sure there will be more to come as the circus continues its rapid roll into town.
