“The kid was super sick and he still wanted to fight. His father said, ‘listen we still want to take the fight, we still want to take the fight.’ I should have pulled the kid from the fight. He’s 19 years old, he fought three times in [four] months. I should have pulled the kid from the fight. The kid really wanted to fight and I let him fight. He was sick as hell. I blew it.”
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White (via Big Boy Show) is taking the blame for Sage Northcutt’s submission loss, which came against Bryan Barberena at the UFC on FOX 18 mixed martial arts (MMA) event last weekend (Jan. 30, 2016) in Newark, New Jersey (watch it). While the once-beaten prospect revealed his battle with strep throat days before the fight — and insistence on competing — it was White (transcribed by MMA Fighting) who should have intervened on his athlete’s behalf. I’m sure this latest round of “Super” sympathy will go over well with an understandably frustrated “Bam Bam,” who can’t seem to buy a compliment these days.
