Dana White: NSAC shouldn’t be able to keep Khabib Nurmagomedov’s whole purse for UFC 229 brawl

A hefty sanction is expected to be imposed upon Khabib Nurmagomedov, following his actions on Saturday night at UFC 229 right after defeating Conor McGregor. His disclosed salary of $2 million has already been withheld by the Nevada State Athletic Commssion, and according to UFC president Dana White, the NSAC is planning to take all of it.

White is in disagreement with this supposed decision, and in a recent interview with TMZ Sports, he laid out his own suggestions.

“They took his whole purse right now and they’re talking about keeping his purse – I do not think that that should happen,” White said (transcript via MMAjunkie). “You should not be able to keep his whole purse.”

“I think they should take ($250,000) from him,” White said. “(He) absolutely keeps his title. And he’s going to get suspended, so maybe you give him a four to six months suspension.”

Khabib’s current bitter rival Conor McGregor, who himself was involved in a ruckus at UFC 223 last April, did not get slapped with any suspension or sanction from the UFC. According to White, these are two different situations.

“It’s different circumstances, you guys – this wasn’t at an event,” White explained. “This was in the bowels of the Barclays Center, it was a completely different situation. (McGregor) was dealing with the state of New York and the police.”

“In this thing, (Nurmagomedov) was part of something that was regulated by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.”

While Khabib is still waiting for the Commission’s final decision, he will first have to deal with his father, who promised to “impose a punishment tougher than the UFC’s.”
