Earlier this month, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White made a “real” offer to undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr., promising “Money” a $25 million purse to fight UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor.
As expected, the persnickety pugilist scoffed at the asking price, insisting he was the “A side” in that equation. But if Mayweather is unwilling to cooperate, how about the second biggest name in the “sweet science?”
Fossilized fight promoter Bob Arum — the world’s foremost expert on skinheads and homosexuals — claimed Top Rank president Todd DuBoef would be contacting friend and UFC chief operating officer Lawrence Epstein about a potential crossover fight after “Pac Man” expressed interest in a “Notorious” payday.
“Listen, I love Manny Pacquiao,” White told Yahoo! Sports. “But I don’t love Bob Arum. You can tell Arum to save his money and not make any calls over here because we aren’t doing business with him.”
I can’t imagine why.
While McGregor is not expected to return to mixed martial arts (MMA) until late summer or early fall, the trash-talking Irishman has been keeping himself in the combat sports press — boxing included — with strategic moves like this.
Maybe this guy was right all along.
