Now that former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is back in the mix, many possibilities have opened up for him. One option he is looking at is a rematch against Alexander Gustafsson, and of course, there is the third fight against Daniel Cormier.
There has been no love lost between Jones and Cormier, as seen through the social media activity of both men. It is something that UFC president Dana White recognizes, as he himself admits to wanting a third fight to happen.
He even opened up an idea to make the matchup a bit more fascinating.
“The hatred is real with these two, it’s unbelievable,” White told TMZ Sports (transcript via MMA Mania). “I would like to see it, I think the fans would like to see it.”
“What would be interesting is, we might see it at heavyweight. I’m gonna do whatever ‘DC’ wants to do. I’m gonna do everything in my power to make that man happy.”
Cormier himself admitted that he would have a difficult time dropping back down to 205 pounds. Jones also acknowledged the notion that fighting “DC” at heavyweight would be a “bigger challenge”, but remains assured that he will still end up with the win.
