ANAHEIM, Calif. — Daniel Cormier joined an elite group Saturday night, even in defeat.
The now former UFC light heavyweight champion took home a disclosed $1 million in fight purse, per a document obtained by MMA Fighting from the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) on Saturday night. Cormier did not receive any show money, but does get a share of the pay-per-view revenue.
Cormier joins an elite group of fighters who have earned $1 million or more in UFC fight purses: Conor McGregor, Ronda Rousey, Nate Diaz and Brock Lesnar.
In the main event of UFC 214, Cormier fell to Jon Jones by third-round TKO. Jones took back the UFC light heavyweight belt that Cormier has held for the last two years.
Jones, meanwhile, made $500,000 in show money for the fight with no win bonus. He, too, likely gets a cut of the PPV revenue.
In the co-main event, Tyron Woodley made a disclosed $500,000 with no win bonus, while Demian Maia pocketed a disclosed $110,000 of show money. Woodley won the fight, retaining his welterweight title, by unanimous decision. Maia would have gotten another $110,000 had he won.
Cris Cyborg took home a disclosed $200,000 of show money for beating Tonya Evinger via third-round TKO to win the UFC women’s featherweight title. Cyborg is also likely getting a portion of the pay-per-view revenue. Evinger made $100,000 to show, which is far and away the biggest purse of the former Invicta champion’s career. Evinger would have made another $100,000 if she won.
Robbie Lawler earned a disclosed total of $300,000 for his unanimous decision win over Donald Cerrone. Lawler made $200,000 in show money and another $100,000 in his win bonus. Cerrone picked up $155,000 of show money. “Cowboy” would have taken home another $155,000 if he won.
Volkan Oezdemir made $110,000 disclosed for his main-card opening win over Jimi Manuwa. Oezdemir received $80,000 to show and $30,000 to win. He beat Manuwa by knockout in just 22 seconds. Manuwa took home a disclosed $120,000 of show money and would have doubled that with a victory.
