Is a rivalry brewing between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic?
Yesterday, former UFC heavyweight champion Miocic reacted to the news that ‘DC’ would be defending his heavyweight title against top contender Derrick Lewis at UFC 230, and he didn’t take it well.
Miocic, a part-time firefighter from Independence, Ohio, posted footage from an interview where he claimed that he would beat Cormier 9 times out of 10. Despite being knocked out in the first round at UFC 226, Miocic is adamant that he is the better fighter and is campaigning hard for a championship rematch.
Cormier soon got news of Miocic’s post and sent out a Tweet of his own the following day, claiming that he may have knocked the former champ ‘silly’ in the UFC 226 main event.
Miocic, who defended the heavyweight title a record-breaking three times before being dethroned by Cormier, fired back a couple of hours later and insisted that what happened on July 7 will ‘never happen again.’
You beat me that night. I respect that. But it would never happen again. I carried the torch in this division for a long time. I’ve been staying up all night with my new born daughter and I still offered to fight you nov 3 with ZERO camp weeks ago.

Cormier is expected to defend his heavyweight title against Lewis at UFC 230, which takes place on November 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
