It’s one thing to lose a fight, but losing one via decision is always a tough pill to swallow, especially when most people feel the decision should have gone your way.
That’s the situation Derek Brunson finds himself in after he came up on the wrong end of a unanimous decision defeat at the hands of Anderson Silva at last night’s (Sat., Feb. 11, 2017) UFC 208 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Brooklyn, New York (video replay here).
And it’s safe to say Derek — like Dana White — feels he should have been the victor, as he took to Facebook to express his frustrations after he “outclassed” one of the all-time greats on short notice only to have it taken away from him by judges.
“Wow unreal I put my heart & soul out there on 3 weeks notice only to get it taken from me.I just outclassed the greatest of all time #UFC208”
But that wasn’t all, as Derek went on to say he helped save the pay-per-view (PPV) event that was lacking a lot of star power.
“I helped save the card and did all I could on 3 weeks notice. I easily won that fight. I respect Anderson silva but the judges got it wrong. I put my all into my career for my family this sucks! Thanks all for watching #UFC208”
Still, company president Dana White still wasn’t thrilled with the card as a whole, and though he feels bad for Brunson getting shafted by the scores, he reiterated his famous line of “not leaving it in the hands of the judges.”
Nevertheless, Brunson is already working on a new-and-improved version of himself.
